"Spring before last the wildflowers around Arizona
were out in profusion (none this extra-dry Spring), and amidst the fields of yellow and
white and pink, Anni and I spotted this lone red poppy in full bloom. I photographed her in
close-up detail. Anni was so impressed with the flower's unique beauty, she
spent several weeks painting "Desert Poppy" from my photograph of the same
